"Whatchu Thinkin About"
Whatchu thinking about? That's exactly what I asked the little frog sitting on my window sill.
I was taking Suna out to go pee and the little guy caught my eye. It was like it had been waiting for me to open the door and see it. So I rushed to find my camera and of course I couldn't find it anywhere. Tore the studio apart for a good 15 minutes. I was sure the frog was gone by the time I got back. But no. Still there. Didn't even move a muscle. We locked in, secured the photo, mission accomplished.
Months went by and I kept thinking about that frog. Grew a little obsession over it honestly. At first I told myself they're just interesting creatures to draw. But then I stopped and really asked myself what I saw that night. And as crazy as it sounds I saw myself.
We are told to observe the ant and follow her ways. I decided to see what the frogs had going on too.
Everything is a mirror. The reason you can look at a rock and say it looks happy or sad. The reason we see aspects of ourselves in other people, in our environment, in the things we collect and the ways we express ourselves. They are all reflections of who we are.
So why a frog? For me it brought up the cycles and patterns that made me who I am. How each one of us is in a unique season right now. And if you pay close enough attention you'll notice which stage of the life cycle you're currently in. We tend to move through life mistaking movement for growth. This piece is a reminder to slow down and pay attention to what's actually repeating.
